Not just another

I love talking to you
I love the little things you say
About how you went to the church
And wish I was there
How you want me
To live in the same city,
As you
I sometimes want us to go away
Not for a weekend
But forever
Live on a beach
You can paint, I can write
On each other’s necks, shoulders, arms,
On pieces of paper, on sand.
You can paint, I can write
Our silly lives.

I can picture you running into the water
In a pink and white sarong
With your beautiful hair open
Which has better waves than the ocean
Any day, hands down
I can picture you running back towards me
Pulling me into the water, smiling
We fall
A wave covers half our bodies,
Like a blanket on a warm day
And then goes away
We roll away from the waves, laughing
As if the weather just turned colder
As the blanket pulled itself away
As if the sand would keep us warm
Not realising it’s us,
That’s keeping us warm,
this love.

Do you know that I love you?
Of course you do
But do you know that I love you,
The way I do?
I don’t know about you
I have a good feeling though,
That I’m not just another girl for you
